Just purchased new Cub model 7260 with 476 loader. Price was a Fall Aggie Fair special this week of $14,900 delivered. No tax as we are in NH. Delivery next Friday......anxious to get started. Looking fwd to brush cutting 5 acres; clearing scrub trees from 3 acres and doing some tilling. Bucket should help with snow removal too, although have an older 14 HP Gravely for mowing and snow throwing (great machine). Your posts helped quite a lot in narrowing down the choice and looking at pricing objectives. Many thanks.

If you respect your machine by following the service schedule laid out in your owner's manual, and you don't try to use it for work it was never intended to do, your 7260 should out-live you. That was a good price considering you got it with the loader. Good luck with the new machine. ....

what work are they not designed to do? this summer I have knocked over and piled up a building, dredged a stream, dug a fish pond, dug sewers, backfilled, cut away earthen banks, mowed fields and woods, tipped over a large shed, moved an engine/tranmission, hauled firewood, lifted shingles to a roof, rolled huge tree trunks into fires.....its almost like the ginsu knife of tractors..... ....

Well Ed, I know just what you are talking about. These machines are a far cry from the old IH Cubs we started landscaping with back in the mid sixties, they are very versatile to say the least. But the point I tried to make is not to do the kinds of stuff you'd expect as a candidate for the Darwin Awards of tractors. Here are a few I've seen over the last few years or so. The young couple who tried to use their brand new 7275 hydro as a bulldozer to dig out stumps with the FEL and ended up with another new loader, or the guy who used his 7300 for masonry work and lifted two pallets of loose bricks to full height without a weight box not realizing that Cub loaders don't self-level, the result being: a new hood, grill, cylinder head, valve cover, etc. Then there was the old timer who swore by 3PT hitch backhoes, ignored the warnings of friends and dealer and installed a BIG Kelly 9' 3PT hitch hoe and promptly split his 7275 in half trying to dig out a 6' caliper oak stump. And then there was the guy who thought his Kubota R420 articulated loader with backhoe could lift the world, went to his job site and lifted over two and a half tons of granite on a hillside while turning, and just kept turning all the way down the hill (lucky he had a seatbelt and FOPS). You know I could go on and on, and so can a lot of the folks that come to this site, but I guess the point I keep stressing to everyone who'll listen is, "BE SAFE!" Sometimes we get so wrapped up in the jobs we are doing, so challenged by the latest project, that we forget that the most important point of it all is to not get hurt. Sometimes the machine takes the hit for us and we end up looking like a fool. Sometimes someone gets hurt or worse, gets dead. ....

Glad to hear you like your Cub.
I got the 7260 in the Fall and did some rototilling with it. Since then have
pushed some downed tree limbs into piles and moved some snow around. I don't have too many hours on the unit yet but love it and it goes great. I am happy with my decision....seems like the perfect unit for our 14 acres; about 1/2 of which is currently cleared. Come Spring I plan to bush hog and roto till all 7 acres and put a couple acres into crops.....when not in the office I plan to be on the tractor!
